The EcoBriquettes.
As we enter our tenth year, we’re at the tipping point where solid fuels in Ireland are changing at an ever-faster pace, and innovation has never been more important. To showcase one of our core products, EcoBriquettes, we went behind the scenes at the manufacturing facility to show how sawmill waste can be harnessed into an energy-efficient and carbon-neutral heating product.
Every now and then, a technology arrives that changes how we do things.
But innovation is never easy.
It isn’t good enough to make something more sustainable, cleaner, or economical.
It has to perform better in every way.
Otherwise, nobody will even notice. We’re creatures of habit, stuck in our ways.
To make an electric car that anybody would take seriously, Tesla had to create something faster than a Porsche, safer than a Volvo, with twice the efficiency of a Prius.
So when we created Ecobriquettes, we knew we had to develop something that’s not just sustainable, but 10 times better than anything before.
First, we start with nothing but sawdust, 100% natural, renewable, wood waste.
And bind it together under high pressure to create dense, ultradry natural wood briquettes.
Packaged in recyclable cardboard. No plastic packaging. Even the tape is made from paper.
The result is a briquette that’s ultradry, so it burns more efficiently than coal, peat and even kiln-dried firewood. There’s less ash to clean up, they’re smokeless, and there’s no poisonous sulphur emissions you get from any type of coal.
And since they’re made from waste wood, a responsible and renewable resource, they’re carbon neutral.
We’re at a tipping point.
The old fuels that served us for centuries have had their day.
Peat briquettes - an Irish institution - are gone. And coal is being regulated away.
Fortunately, the next generation of fuel is here right now.
And the next generation is here for it.
EcoBriquettes - the next generation fuel for the next generation.
Restoring Ireland’s Native Rainforests
We joined 1% for the Planet in 2023 as a way to contribute to ecological projects in Ireland.
And we’ve partnered with Hometree on their ambitious project to restore 4,000 acres of Ireland’s native rainforests, which once covered 80% of this little island we call home.
Thanks to our customers, 1% of every purchase helps us support the forest. One acre at a time.
